Fox Hunting

Having lived a few years overseas in various places where it was pretty difficult to escape having to listen to Fox News allt he time, I have a deep and tightly coiled hatred for them. There is no depth to which they won't sink. They can use outright lies int he same sentence as their "fair and balanced" tag-line. Barf. This is what they're doing right now to try to discredit Barack Obama.

Oh dear. Smear campaigns.

Apparently there was an exchange between an Israeli Government Minister and his opposition counterpart.
The minister remarked 'when they circumcised that man, they threw away the wrong bit'.
Makes Cameron and Blair's dispatches seem dull doesn't it?

I have a new blog - http://doublenegative.wordpress.com

Let me know what you think

And the most unfortunate thing is that Fox is not a paper handed out by nutters on street corners - millions of Americans use it as their primary source of news and information. Many people outside the US find it hard to believe how anyone could have voted for Bush - it's difficult for people who haven't lived here to understand how uninformed or misinformed much of the American public is. Fox either takes Bush administration and Republican party press releases and uncritically turns them into news, or takes substance-less right-wing rumors and smear campaigns against Democrats and gives them national airing.

"This is what they're doing right now to try to discredit Barack Obama."

Gore and Kerry were smeared 24-7. They had a hard time getting any serious discussion in on the issues, because the media coverage was so focused on ridiculous attacks. "Gore said he invented the Internet" "Gore said he was the inspiration for 'Love Story'" "Kerry flip-flops on every issue" "Kerry didn't deserve his medals from Vietnam". I don't think it will be any different this time, but now that the American public is finally disgusted with the Iraq war and Bush and his party's mishandling of the economy, cronyism and corruption that it might be time for a real change.

The worst part is that my parents watch Faux news and believe that they are being fair and balanced.
